Karura Forest – Huruma Village Belt

Restoration of the degraded landscape – The Karura Forest -Huruma village Buffer Zone.
KFiC is a community forest user group based at Huruma Village, Nairobi – Kenya.

Huruma Village has 350 households as per 2017 count. It borders Karura forest reserve on Eastern side and Ruaka River in the southern side.

All the domestic waste generated on a daily basis is carelessly dumped and eventually ends up been washed away to Ruaka River by rain water.

Consequently KFiC has recently sought partnership with Kenya Forest Service to collaborate in restoring the buffer zone.
The restoration journey has got on board Jeff Mack through Huruma village intiatiave. We are open to other meaningful engagements from individuals and corporates bodies.

KFiC intends to grow Bamboo seedlings, have a composting site and clean up the Ruaka River.
